Ammonia plays a crucial role in food production, but accounts for 1% of total global greenhouse gas emissions. This is mainly because traditional ammonia production uses fossil fuels such as coal or natural gas as feedstocks.
What if we could develop ammonia without fossil fuels? What if we could make ammonia green using only sun, air and water? At Groupe Curie, we are clearly moving toward making green fertilizers using natural elements – sun, wind, hydrogen and nitrogen from the air – instead of fossil fuels. As such, it represents a major leap forward in the sustainable development of the fertilizer industry, while offering exciting opportunities for collaboration between the fertilizer and energy markets.
